Oshoala Insists Award Won't Put Her Under Pressure

Asisat Oshoala has maintained she will not be under pressure at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada after she won the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year.
She said that rather than being under pressure, she is ready to give her best for the African champions in Canada.

"I am not under any kind of pressure after winning this award. I have won series of award before coming to Canada, but I am not under any kind of pressure I am just here to give my best and make my country proud.

"For the World Cup, I promise a good game for me as an individual. Anytime I am in the green and white I give my best for my nation."

The Liverpool Ladies player noted that her feat at the award is a sign that many people now follow women’s football.

"Now I know a lot of people out there now follow female football," she said.

"I think I deserve this award, the fans voted, it’s the voice of the fans and not the voice of BBC, so it’s all about the fans."
