DStv Premier Basketball League Atlantic Conference side Lagos Islanders will host their final four regular games of the season at their new venue, the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, the club’s management has said.
Islanders, one of the country’s most glamorous basketball clubs, had previously used the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, as their home court but are now poised to play Oluyole Warriors in a week-8 game at their new venue after partnering with the management of Landmark Event Centre.
The other Islanders games scheduled for the Landmark venue are versus Kwara Falcons of Ilorin (June 7), versus Union Bank (June 16) and against Delta Force (June 28).
Club chairman, Damoye Oyesiku, said they had put plans in place to ensure that fans were given the best treatment during games.
He added that Islanders were leaving no stone unturned in their game against Oluyole Warriors, despite beating the Ibadan side 86-62 away from home in their previous outing.
“We have everything in place and we are set to have our first game at the Landmark Event Centre. Gate fees will be charge and adequate preparation has been made as we set to host basketball games in an enjoyable event centre that people will always yearn to see, because we have lined-up great artistes to perform on the nights,” Oyesiku said.
It’s a welcome development for fans of Islanders, who believe the basketball club are gradually returning to their status as one of the most followed teams in Nigeria.
