Heartland Suspend Coach Erasmus Onuh

The management of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Heartland on Monday handed head coach Erasmus Onuh Olottah an immediate suspension from the ongoing season.

The indefinite suspension puts to rest weeks of speculations that the former ABS and Sunshine Stars coach will not see off the ultimatum to win 10 points from a possible 15 in five matches.

Onuh has picked up six points from a possible 12 in a match day 12 clash at oriental neighbours Enyimba to make up the five matches.

However, the embattled coach was eventually suspended over what the management described as 'factionalisation of the team' and also for his penchant to publicly castigate the quality of his own team which often demoralises the players.

The suspension letter, which was signed by the club's General Manager, Prince Okey Ibe, also directed the chief coach, Bethel Orji, to immediately take over the duties of the suspended coach until further notice.

The management also redeployed the feeder team technical consultant, coach Patrick Awajah to the main team on an advisory capacity.

The new coaching crew's immediate assignment will be the oriental clash at neighbours Enyimba on Wednesday at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The suspended coach's last assignment was the 4-1 win against Bayelsa United in a match day 11 clash on Sunday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Heartland have raked in 18 points from a possible 33 in the 11-week old Nigerian top flight.
