Just back from the Badminton World Federation Sudirman Cup in China, Dorcas Adesokan, has appealed to the federation to begin preparations for the Lagos International Badminton Classics and the 2015 All-Africa Games.
The Nigerian team comprising Adesokan, Enejoh Abah, Grace Gabriel and Victor Makanju were only able to reach the level four of the Sudirman Cup, which was won by hosts, China, after losing their two matches.
Despite the performance, Adesokan, who spoke with Punch correspondent, said the country could have performed better with more exposure.
She said, “The China experience was a good one for us. It is the first competition we will attend this year and we really learnt a lot there.
“We could have done better than we did if we had more exposure but we are grateful for the one we have.
“We have been able to gain some points in the rankings now and it will help us in the Olympics qualification and some other competitions.”
