HANDBALL: HFN Postpone U-15 Girls Championships

Handball Federation of Nigeria Secretary, Elijah Ameh, has said the U-15 girls championships earlier scheduled to run from June 15 to 24 has been postponed indefinitely, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Ameh told NAN during the week that the postponement was to give more teams to register for the event.

He said, “We proposed the championships for June, but the response was not encouraging and so we decided to shift the date.

“With this development I believe that other states that have not entered for the competition will take advantage of the postponement to register their teams.

“We are working toward having a hitch-free competition; so the more entries we have, the better for us as it will make the event more competitive.”

The HFN chief added, “We had female players who have participated in U-12 championships from 2012 to date, so this is an enabling environment for them to exhibit their skills to move up to the U-15.

“We are passionate about our grassroots development, being the reason why this championship is planned for the girls.”
