Mobolaji had emerged the third-place winners on Tuesday after beating Del Girls 18-11, and Tornadoes defeated Topfield 19-16 to clinch third place in the boys’ U-15 competition.
Coordinator of the league, Gbade Olatona, said the tournament was a success.
“This edition of the league was bigger than last year’s because we have teams from outside Lagos – places like Asaba and the rest – and we used three venues as against last year’s one,” he told our correspondent.
Managing Director, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, sponsor of the competition, Mr. Olanrewaju Jaiyeola, said that a brighter future awaits basketball in Nigeria going by the performances of players in the competition.
Describing the competition as a huge success, he said the game would improve tremendously if government gave it adequate attention.
“In efforts to make the society feel our impact, we have made basketball a choice, not just to discover talents, but also to build talents. Beyond that, it is also to remove the youths from the streets, from social vices and make them have a direction to realise a dream by building a career,” Olanrewaju said.
According to him, Honeywell would continue to support good causes, especially those that have to do with grassroots sports development.
