CBN Tennis Open: Semi Finals To Be Played Today


New Tennis sensation, Melissa Ifidzhen Thursday, cruised into the semi-finals of the 37th Central Bank of Nigeria Men and Woman Senior Tennis Open, when she defeated Patience Onebamho 6-0, 6-0 in one of the quarter-final matches played.


The Russian-born Nigerian who is debuting in the championship will today face Beauty Mcleod in one of the semi-final games while Aanu Aiyegbusi who defeated Blessing Samule 6-3, 6-1 will battle with the defending champion and women top seed, Christy Agugbom.

In the men’s singles, the defending champion and tournament 2nd seed, Abdulmumuni Babalola defeated Nonse Madueke 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the men and women wheelchair singles event entered semi-finals today with the mens defending champion, Alex Adewale and Jude Uwazie already through to the semi-finals.
