CAF Champions League
Result: Enyimba 1-0 Smouha
Date: 15 March 2015
Substitute Rafael Boumsong scored in the second half as Enyimba
International recorded a slim 1-0 win against Smouha FC in a first leg CAF
Champions League first round match in Aba on Sunday.
The former Elkanemi Warriors forward headed home the winner
in the second half at the Enyimba International Stadium.
Smouha goalkeeper Mahdy Mohammed Soluman made a 5th minute
save to stop Kingsley Sokari from scoring for the home side.
The Egyptian team sat back while the two-time CAF Champions
League winners were anxious to carve out a chance.
Dashing winger Etor Daniel saw his screamer canon off the
upright in the 20th minute.
Despite the series of incursions by the hosts, the first 45
minute ended 0-0 in Aba.
Smouha were clearly not overawed by the challenge of facing
Enyimba, and the People's Elephants found it difficult to break them down until
the 55th minute.
Substitute Boumsong was on target as he met Chinonso
Okonkwo's cross with a powerful header.
The lone goal victory has thus set-up the stage for a tough
second leg for the Nigerian side in the next forthnight in Egypt.
